According to Carroll’s White Queen, “It’s a poor sort of memory that only works backwards.” But such is mine, and here’s a pretty past memory I’d like to share.

Late this spring, some girlfriends and I teamed up with Bettencourt Chase Photography to create our own little version of Wonderland. Emily Chase managed art direction and costume design, and our amazing foodie friend, Samantha, baked a gorgeous cake, cake pops, raspberry mini muffins, a strawberry pie, and other delicacies to ornament our table in the woods.

A friend’s grandparents let us use their land, and Helen Chase directed and was the primary photog. It’s a blast and an honor to shoot with someone whose style and approach are different than your own. Helen let me play second camera (when I wasn’t busy modeling as the Dormouse), and, while it’s taken me a while to post the results, I do want to share them. And be sure to check out Bettencourt Chase’s original post!
Kathleen, our mad March Hare.
Olivia: pretty, inquisitive Alice.
Emily, our smiling, beguiling, Cheshire Cat.
Shannon, dear, batty hostess, Mad Hatter.
And little dormouse me. But you’ll have to visit Bettencourt-Chase to see that! (I’m the maniacal tea-drinker in the white dress, with my hair all up on my head like mouse ears.)
I don’t think Mr. Carroll would mind all this. After all, it’s just pictures and conversation. “‘And what is the use of a book?’ thought Alice, ‘without pictures or conversation?’”

These are so lovely!!
